6 Best Edgewonk Alternatives in 2026 (Monthly Plans, Auto-Import, US Brokers)
Want Edgewonk's psychology focus with a monthly plan, easier import, or less data entry? Six trading journals compared honestly on price and features.
Published · 12 min read

Edgewonk earned its reputation by taking trading psychology seriously when every other journal was a P&L spreadsheet with charts. The Tiltmeter, the Psychology Lab, and Edge Finder are still distinctive, and the flat price is fair. But Edgewonk is a specific tool for a specific trader, and plenty of people who bought it discover they are not that trader.
The common reasons people look elsewhere:
- The billing model. There is one plan, currently $197 billed every 16 months. There is no monthly option, so trying it means committing to more than a year up front, with a 14-day window to change your mind.
- Import friction for US equity traders. Edgewonk's roots are in forex. MetaTrader 4 and 5 sync automatically, but for Schwab, Fidelity, Robinhood, or an options account you are working through file imports and an Excel template.
- The learning curve. Edgewonk asks you to fill in a lot per trade. That is where its insight comes from, and it is also why many journals go quiet after month two.
- No mobile app, no replay, no backtesting. If you review from your phone or want to step through trades bar by bar, Edgewonk does not do that.
- Desktop-era design. The web app has improved, but it is not the reason anyone opens it.
Below are six alternatives ranked for a trader who wants Edgewonk's seriousness about behavior with less friction. Prices were checked in September 2026.
Quick comparison
| Journal | Paid from | Monthly plan | Trial | How trades get in | Psychology tools |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| EdgeDojo | Free (open beta) | No plan needed | Free, no card | API connections and integrations with 90+ brokers and exchanges, plus universal import | Daily diary, mood, A to F score, strategy checklists |
| TradeZella | $35/mo | Yes | None | 500+ broker sync | AI habit and sentiment agents |
| TraderSync | $29.95/mo | Yes | 7 days, no card | 700+ broker auto-import | Emotion tags, AI assistant |
| TradesViz | $19.99/mo | Yes | Free tier | Auto-sync and CSV | AI coach checks |
| Tradervue | $29.95/mo | Yes | Free, 30 trades/mo | 80+ platform imports | Notes and tags |
| Stonk Journal | Free, Pro $10/mo | Yes | Free, unlimited | Manual, CSV on Pro | Confidence meter, risk rules |
What a year actually costs
Retail traders do not have a firm paying for software. Every dollar of subscription comes out of the same account you are trying to grow, so the honest comparison is total annual cost for a plan with unlimited trades and import.
| Journal | Annual cost | Catch |
|---|---|---|
| Edgewonk (what you pay now) | $197 per 16 months, about $148 a year | No monthly plan; 16 months up front |
| EdgeDojo | $0, free during open beta | Everything included, every asset class, API connections and integrations with 90+ brokers and exchanges, plus universal import; beta accounts stay free |
| TradesViz | $179.88 (Pro annual) | Free tier is stocks only; exit analysis needs Platinum at $269.88 |
| Stonk Journal | Free with manual entry, $120 (Pro) | Import only on Pro; no fill pairing or broker sync |
| TraderSync | $179.64 first-year promo, $359.40 at the monthly rate | Replay depth and AI capped below Elite |
| Tradervue | $323.46 (Silver) or $479.52 (Gold) | Exit analysis and risk reports need Gold; no crypto |
| TradeZella | $315 (Essential) or $531 (Pro) | Replay and AI agents need Pro; one account on Essential |
EdgeDojo is free during open beta, no card required, and accounts created during the beta keep free access after paid plans launch. It is the only option on this list that costs nothing and still imports from any broker, covers every asset class, and includes a daily diary. The journals that cost more do not journal better. They bundle more.
1. EdgeDojo
Best for: traders who bought Edgewonk for the psychology and want the same discipline loop at no cost, with universal import and a daily habit that takes minutes instead of a form.
EdgeDojo is built on a simple idea: a trading journal should be excellent at four things. Import your trades, journal them, track the trader behind them, and tell you what to do next. EdgeDojo does those four things with a modern, intuitive interface and deliberately skips everything else. It is free during open beta, no card required, and beta accounts keep free access when paid plans arrive.
Why traders switch
- API connections and integrations with 90+ brokers and exchanges. Connect Interactive Brokers, tastytrade, Alpaca, Coinbase, Kraken, Bybit, OKX, and more with a read-only API key, or Hyperliquid with a wallet address, and EdgeDojo syncs your trades every day at the time you choose.
- Universal smart import. Drop in a trade export from any broker or exchange. EdgeDojo recognizes the file, pairs fills into trades, calculates P&L, and groups multi-leg options into named structures. No mapping wizard, no broker whitelist to check, no waiting for an integration to be added.
- The best journal for perpetual futures traders. EdgeDojo has a native Hyperliquid integration. Enter your wallet address and your perps fills sync straight into the journal, with the same analytics as everything else you trade. Most journals on this list treat perps as an afterthought or not at all. EdgeDojo treats them as a first-class asset class, in a journal you can have running in five minutes.
- Every asset class in one journal. Stocks, ETFs, options, futures, perpetual futures, crypto, and forex share one account and one equity curve. A trader who scalps ES in the morning and trades perps at night finally sees the whole picture in one place.
- Trader psychology, tied to results. A daily diary records your pre-plan, mood, market conditions, catalysts, expectations, takeaways, and an A to F score for how you traded, separate from what you made. The score is plotted against P&L, so you can see which version of you makes money. Strategies carry eligibility checklists, so every trade shows whether you followed your own rules and what it cost when you did not.
- A journal you will actually open. Fast and uncluttered. Screenshots, setup and mistake tags, stop loss and profit target on every trade, and a visual gallery for re-studying your best setups until they are muscle memory.
- Analytics that point to the next action. P&L calendar heatmap, equity curve, R-multiple distribution, win rate, profit factor, and performance by strategy, symbol, day of week, and asset class. Every chart filters by strategy, symbol, asset class, or date range.
- No feature bloat, no tiers. No AI credits, no trade caps, no gated reports. Your data is yours to export at any time.
- Free, and it stays free for beta members. EdgeDojo is in open beta: full access, no card, no trade caps. Accounts created during the beta keep complimentary access after paid plans launch. Retail traders live and die by costs, and every other journal on this list wants $120 to $500 a year for what EdgeDojo gives you today at no cost.
What it leaves out
By design, there is no backtesting, trade replay, or social feed. API sync covers Interactive Brokers, tastytrade, Alpaca, Hyperliquid, and most major crypto exchanges; other brokers, including Schwab and Fidelity, import by file. There is no native mobile app yet. There is no running per-trade tilt gauge like the Tiltmeter and no automated scanner like Edge Finder; EdgeDojo shows you the pattern in your own diary scores and filters rather than flagging it for you.
Verdict: EdgeDojo keeps the part of Edgewonk that works, which is treating the trader as the variable, and drops the friction. Universal import replaces the Excel template, the session score replaces a long per-trade questionnaire, and free open-beta access replaces a 16-month commitment. If you trade perps, Edgewonk has no answer to the Hyperliquid integration.
2. TradeZella
Best for: traders who want auto-sync, replay, and AI-driven behavioral analysis and are willing to pay for the full platform.
TradeZella syncs 500+ brokers and prop firms, replays trades tick by tick, backtests against historical data, tracks strategy rules in Playbooks, and runs AI agents that flag habits, risk breaches, and sentiment patterns. Plans are $35, $59, and $99 a month or $315, $531, and $891 a year. Replay requires the $59 Pro tier.
Watch out for: you are paying for a backtester, AI agents, a course library, and a community whether or not you use them, and the feature everyone actually wants, trade replay, is locked behind the $59 tier. There is no free plan and no free trial, so the first time you see the product is after you have paid for it. TradeZella is the most expensive journal on this list by a wide margin, and for most retail traders the extra cost buys shelf space.
3. TraderSync
Best for: traders who want auto-import and a mobile app at a middle price.
TraderSync auto-imports from 700+ brokers, has a native mobile app, trade replay, a simulator, emotion tagging, and the Cypher AI assistant. Plans are $29.95, $49.95, and $79.95 a month, with first-year annual pricing of $179.64, $269.64, and $383.76. Every tier has a 7-day trial with no card.
Watch out for: three tiers mean the feature you want is usually one tier up. AI messages are capped per day, replay depth is gated, and the first-year annual price jumps at renewal. The interface is busy, and much of the feature list exists to match TradeZella rather than to make you a better trader. You will pay about double EdgeDojo's price for a journal that does the core job about as well.
4. TradesViz
Best for: traders who want Edgewonk's depth of reporting and more, at a lower price with a free tier.
TradesViz offers 600+ statistics, auto-sync and CSV import, and an AI coach that runs behavioral checks. The free tier covers stocks with 3,000 executions a month. Pro is $19.99 a month or $14.99 a month billed annually and covers all asset classes. Platinum at $29.99 adds exit analysis and simulators.
Watch out for: 600 statistics is a spreadsheet, not a decision. The dashboard takes real setup time to be useful, and new users often spend their first week configuring instead of reviewing. The free tier is stocks only, and the exit analysis reviewers praise needs Platinum at $29.99 a month. If you want a calm surface to review your day on, this is the opposite of that.
5. Tradervue
Best for: stock and options traders who want a proven, conservative journal with exit analysis.
Tradervue imports from 80+ platforms, plots entries and exits on TradingView charts, and has strong exit analysis on its Gold tier. Free covers 30 trades a month. Silver is $29.95 a month and Gold is $49.95, or $323.46 and $479.52 a year.
Watch out for: you are paying 2026 prices for a 2015 interface. No crypto, no perps, no mobile app, no strategies section, and a free plan most active traders exhaust in a week. Billing and cancellation complaints dominate its public reviews. Tradervue is reliable, but reliability is the floor, not the reason to pay $323 a year.
6. Stonk Journal
Best for: traders who want to keep journaling for free while they decide what to pay for.
Stonk Journal's free plan is unlimited and ad-free, covers stocks, options, futures, forex, and crypto, and includes a confidence meter per trade and risk rules that flag violations. Pro at $10 a month adds CSV import, an AI coach, and a combined multi-account view.
Watch out for: free lasts until you need import, and then it is $10 a month for a journal that still does not pair fills or sync a broker. The analytics stop at the basics, there is no R-multiple or expectancy view, and broker sync has been a roadmap item rather than a feature. EdgeDojo replaces the manual workflow entirely, and it is free during open beta.
How to choose
- Want Edgewonk's psychology angle with less effort? EdgeDojo's diary and score, or Stonk Journal's confidence meter if you want free.
- Want automated pattern detection like Edge Finder? TradeZella's AI agents or TradesViz's AI coach.
- Want a monthly plan? Everything on this list except Edgewonk itself.
- Trade US equities and options? EdgeDojo's universal import reads any broker's export without an Excel detour. TradesViz, TraderSync, and Tradervue sync the major US brokers directly.
- Trade MetaTrader forex? Edgewonk's MT4/MT5 sync is hard to beat. TraderSync and TradeZella also sync MetaTrader. EdgeDojo's universal import reads MetaTrader history exports too.
- Trade perpetual futures? EdgeDojo has a native Hyperliquid integration and treats perps as a first-class asset class. Edgewonk's forex roots do not extend to perps.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free Edgewonk alternative? EdgeDojo is completely free during open beta with no card required and no trade caps, and beta accounts stay free. Stonk Journal is free and unlimited but manual entry. TradesViz has a stocks-only free tier. TraderSync offers a 7-day trial.
Which alternative is closest to Edgewonk's psychology focus? EdgeDojo, through its session diary, mood tracking, and A to F score tied to P&L. TradeZella's AI agents approach the same problem from the automation side.
Can I move my Edgewonk data? Yes. Export your trades to CSV or Excel from Edgewonk and drop the file into EdgeDojo's universal import, or into any other journal that accepts a generic CSV.
Is Edgewonk still worth it? For a MetaTrader forex trader who will fill in every field, yes. For most US equity, futures, and options traders, the alternatives above import more easily, cost less per month, and are easier to stick with.
