7 Best TradeZella Alternatives in 2026 (Cheaper, Free, and Simpler)
Priced out of TradeZella or don't need backtesting and AI agents? Six trading journals compared on price, import, and analytics, ranked honestly.
Published · 12 min read

TradeZella is a good product. It is also one of the most expensive trading journals on the market, and the features that justify the price are ones most traders never open. If you are here, you are probably in one of three camps:
- The price is hard to justify. Plans run $35, $59, and $99 a month. Trade replay, the feature everyone talks about, starts on the $59 Pro tier. Paid annually that is still $531 a year.
- There is no free trial. You pay before you see the product. Some reviewers report a 14-day refund window, but you have to ask for it and terms can change.
- You want a journal, not a platform. Backtesting, AI agents, prop-firm dashboards, community Spaces, and a course library are a lot to pay for when what you need is clean trade data, a place to write, and a few honest charts.
Below are the six alternatives worth your time, ranked by how well they serve a trader who wants to review and improve. Pricing was checked in September 2026 and will drift, so confirm on each vendor's site before you buy.
Quick comparison
| Journal | Paid from | Free option | How trades get in | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EdgeDojo | Free (open beta) | Free, no card | API connections and integrations with 90+ brokers and exchanges, plus universal import | Modern, focused journal; best for perps traders |
| TraderSync | $29.95/mo | 7-day trial, no card | Auto-import from 700+ brokers | Feature parity with TradeZella at a lower price |
| TradesViz | $19.99/mo | Free tier, stocks only | Auto-sync and CSV | Stats-heavy traders who want everything measured |
| Tradervue | $29.95/mo | Free, 30 trades/mo | 80+ platform imports | Long-tenured stock and options traders |
| Edgewonk | $197 per 16 months | 14-day refund | MT4/MT5 sync, 30+ platforms, Excel | Forex and futures traders focused on psychology |
| Stonk Journal | Free, Pro $10/mo | Free, unlimited | Manual entry, CSV on Pro | Beginners who want zero cost |
What a year actually costs
Retail traders do not have a firm paying for software. Every dollar of subscription comes out of the same account you are trying to grow, so the honest comparison is total annual cost for a plan with unlimited trades and import.
| Journal | Annual cost | Catch |
|---|---|---|
| TradeZella (what you pay now) | $315 (Essential) or $531 (Pro) | Replay and AI agents need Pro; one account on Essential |
| EdgeDojo | $0, free during open beta | Everything included, every asset class, API connections and integrations with 90+ brokers and exchanges, plus universal import; beta accounts stay free |
| TradesViz | $179.88 (Pro annual) | Free tier is stocks only; exit analysis needs Platinum at $269.88 |
| Edgewonk | $197 per 16 months, about $148 a year | No monthly plan; 16 months up front |
| Stonk Journal | Free with manual entry, $120 (Pro) | Import only on Pro; no fill pairing or broker sync |
| TraderSync | $179.64 first-year promo, $359.40 at the monthly rate | Replay depth and AI capped below Elite |
| Tradervue | $323.46 (Silver) or $479.52 (Gold) | Exit analysis and risk reports need Gold; no crypto |
EdgeDojo is free during open beta, no card required, and accounts created during the beta keep free access after paid plans launch. It is the only option on this list that costs nothing and still imports from any broker, covers every asset class, and includes a daily diary. The journals that cost more do not journal better. They bundle more.
1. EdgeDojo
Best for: traders who pay for TradeZella's platform but only use its journal, and want a cleaner tool that does the core job better, for free.
EdgeDojo is built on a simple idea: a trading journal should be excellent at four things. Import your trades, journal them, track the trader behind them, and tell you what to do next. EdgeDojo does those four things with a modern, intuitive interface and deliberately skips everything else. It is free during open beta, no card required, and beta accounts keep free access when paid plans arrive.
Why traders switch
- API connections and integrations with 90+ brokers and exchanges. Connect Interactive Brokers, tastytrade, Alpaca, Coinbase, Kraken, Bybit, OKX, and more with a read-only API key, or Hyperliquid with a wallet address, and EdgeDojo syncs your trades every day at the time you choose.
- Universal smart import. Drop in a trade export from any broker or exchange. EdgeDojo recognizes the file, pairs fills into trades, calculates P&L, and groups multi-leg options into named structures. No mapping wizard, no broker whitelist to check, no waiting for an integration to be added.
- The best journal for perpetual futures traders. EdgeDojo has a native Hyperliquid integration. Enter your wallet address and your perps fills sync straight into the journal, with the same analytics as everything else you trade. Most journals on this list treat perps as an afterthought or not at all. EdgeDojo treats them as a first-class asset class, in a journal you can have running in five minutes.
- Every asset class in one journal. Stocks, ETFs, options, futures, perpetual futures, crypto, and forex share one account and one equity curve. A trader who scalps ES in the morning and trades perps at night finally sees the whole picture in one place.
- Trader psychology, tied to results. A daily diary records your pre-plan, mood, market conditions, catalysts, expectations, takeaways, and an A to F score for how you traded, separate from what you made. The score is plotted against P&L, so you can see which version of you makes money. Strategies carry eligibility checklists, so every trade shows whether you followed your own rules and what it cost when you did not.
- A journal you will actually open. Fast and uncluttered. Screenshots, setup and mistake tags, stop loss and profit target on every trade, and a visual gallery for re-studying your best setups until they are muscle memory.
- Analytics that point to the next action. P&L calendar heatmap, equity curve, R-multiple distribution, win rate, profit factor, and performance by strategy, symbol, day of week, and asset class. Every chart filters by strategy, symbol, asset class, or date range.
- No feature bloat, no tiers. No AI credits, no trade caps, no gated reports. Your data is yours to export at any time.
- Free, and it stays free for beta members. EdgeDojo is in open beta: full access, no card, no trade caps. Accounts created during the beta keep complimentary access after paid plans launch. Retail traders live and die by costs, and every other journal on this list wants $120 to $500 a year for what EdgeDojo gives you today at no cost.
What it leaves out
By design, there is no backtesting, trade replay, or social feed. API sync covers Interactive Brokers, tastytrade, Alpaca, Hyperliquid, and most major crypto exchanges; other brokers, including Schwab and Fidelity, import by file. There is no native mobile app yet.
Verdict: if your TradeZella routine is import, tag, screenshot, review, and check the dashboard, EdgeDojo does every step in a faster, cleaner interface for free during open beta, adds a real daily diary, and treats Hyperliquid perps as a first-class asset class rather than one more line in a 500-broker list.
2. TraderSync
Best for: traders who want the closest thing to TradeZella feature-for-feature, with a free trial.
TraderSync has been around longer than TradeZella and covers the same ground: auto-import from 700+ brokers, trade replay, a simulator, an AI assistant called Cypher, and a mobile app. Plans are Pro at $29.95, Premium at $49.95, and Elite at $79.95 a month, with first-year annual pricing discounted to $179.64, $269.64, and $383.76. Every plan has a 7-day trial with no card required.
Watch out for: three tiers mean the feature you want is usually one tier up. AI messages are capped per day, replay depth is gated, and the first-year annual price jumps at renewal. The interface is busy, and much of the feature list exists to match TradeZella rather than to make you a better trader. You will pay about double EdgeDojo's price for a journal that does the core job about as well.
3. TradesViz
Best for: traders who want more statistics than anyone else offers, at a lower price.
TradesViz advertises 600+ stats and it is not exaggerating. The free tier covers stocks only with 3,000 executions a month. Pro is $19.99 a month or $14.99 a month billed annually and adds futures, options, forex, crypto, and CFDs plus AI tools. Platinum at $29.99 a month adds an options backtester, exit analysis, and an options flow scanner.
Watch out for: 600 statistics is a spreadsheet, not a decision. The dashboard takes real setup time to be useful, and new users often spend their first week configuring instead of reviewing. The free tier is stocks only, and the exit analysis reviewers praise needs Platinum at $29.99 a month. If you want a calm surface to review your day on, this is the opposite of that.
4. Tradervue
Best for: stock and options traders who value stability over novelty.
Tradervue is the veteran of the category, with 80+ platform integrations, TradingView charts with your entries and exits plotted, exit analysis, and a sharing community. It has a free plan capped at 30 trades a month. Silver is $29.95 a month or $323.46 a year and Gold, which adds exit analysis and risk reports, is $49.95 a month or $479.52 a year.
Watch out for: you are paying 2026 prices for a 2015 interface. No crypto, no perps, no mobile app, no strategies section, and a free plan most active traders exhaust in a week. Billing and cancellation complaints dominate its public reviews. Tradervue is reliable, but reliability is the floor, not the reason to pay $323 a year.
5. Edgewonk
Best for: forex and futures traders who care more about behavior than about charts.
Edgewonk is a psychology-first journal. Its Tiltmeter tracks emotional state, Edge Finder scans your data for statistically meaningful patterns, and the Psychology Lab and trade-management analysis tell you what your exits cost you. There is one plan, currently $197 billed every 16 months, with a 14-day money-back guarantee. MetaTrader 4 and 5 sync automatically; 30+ other platforms import by file, and an Excel template covers the rest.
Watch out for: you commit to 16 months up front for software you have never used, with a 14-day window to change your mind. There is no monthly plan, no mobile app, no replay, and no perps support. Edgewonk's insight is only as good as your data entry, and its per-trade forms are exactly what tilted traders stop filling in. It rewards discipline you may not have yet.
6. Stonk Journal
Best for: beginners who want a free, ad-free journal and do not mind typing trades in.
Stonk Journal's free plan has no trade or account limits and covers stocks, options, futures, forex, and crypto. It runs as an offline-capable web app, has a calendar heatmap, risk rules, and setup tracking, and does not sell your data. Pro is $10 a month and adds CSV import, an AI coach, and an aggregated multi-account dashboard.
Watch out for: free lasts until you need import, and then it is $10 a month for a journal that still does not pair fills or sync a broker. The analytics stop at the basics, there is no R-multiple or expectancy view, and broker sync has been a roadmap item rather than a feature. EdgeDojo replaces the manual workflow entirely, and it is free during open beta.
How to choose
Three questions cut the list down quickly.
- Do you actually use replay or backtesting? If yes, stay with TradeZella or look at TraderSync. If no, you are paying $20 to $60 a month for shelf space. EdgeDojo, TradesViz, and Edgewonk all cost less and skip those features on purpose.
- How do you want trades to get in? For live broker sync, EdgeDojo has API connections and integrations with 90+ brokers and exchanges, including Interactive Brokers, tastytrade, Alpaca, and Hyperliquid, and syncs connected accounts every day; TraderSync, TradesViz, and Tradervue cover more US stock brokers. For any broker without a sync, EdgeDojo's universal import means you never check a compatibility list. Manual entry only makes sense for low-volume traders on Stonk Journal.
- Do you want to journal your day, or just your trades? Only EdgeDojo and Edgewonk treat the session, not the trade, as the unit of review. If your losses come from state of mind rather than setup selection, that matters more than any chart.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free TradeZella alternative? EdgeDojo is completely free during open beta with no card required, no trade caps, and import included, and beta accounts stay free. Stonk Journal is free with unlimited trades but manual entry. Tradervue and TradesViz have free tiers with caps. TraderSync offers a 7-day trial.
Which alternative is closest to TradeZella? TraderSync. It has auto-import, replay, a simulator, AI, and a mobile app, and it undercuts TradeZella on every tier.
Which alternative is cheapest with import included? EdgeDojo, which is free during open beta with import from any broker and every asset class included. Among paid journals, TradesViz Pro at $14.99 a month billed annually is the cheapest. Stonk Journal Pro is $10 a month but does not pair fills the way the others do.
Which alternative is best for perpetual futures traders? EdgeDojo. Its Hyperliquid integration syncs perps fills from your wallet address, and perps sit alongside your stocks, options, and futures in the same analytics.
Can I move my TradeZella history? Yes. Export your trades from TradeZella as CSV and import them into any journal on this list that accepts a generic CSV. EdgeDojo's universal import reads it directly.
