Interactive Brokers gives you every market in one account, which also makes its statements hard to review. EdgeDojo connects to IBKR through the Flex Web Service, so stock, option, and futures executions arrive as finished trades with commissions and P&L, minutes after your session ends.
There is nothing to upload. Click Sync after the close and review the day while it is still fresh.
Tips for journaling Interactive Brokers trades
- Tag each trade with setup and instrument. IBKR makes it easy to drift from stocks into options or futures, and your stats should show which one actually pays.
- Journal net of commissions. On IBKR tiered pricing, fees on small, frequent trades add up faster than most traders expect.
- Sync on the same day. Trade Confirmation queries include executions within a few minutes, so your notes and screenshots match what you saw on screen.
How to sync your Interactive Brokers trades
- 1 Log in to the IBKR Portal and open Performance & Reports → Flex Queries (or Menu → Reporting → Flex Queries).
- 2 In Trade Confirmation Flex Query Templates, click the + icon.
- 3 Name it (e.g. "EdgeDojo"), open the Trade Confirmation section and choose Executions. Select all fields (or at least AssetCategory, Symbol, Buy/Sell, Quantity, TradePrice, Commission, Date/Time, Strike, Expiry, Put/Call, Multiplier, UnderlyingSymbol, TradeID).
- 4 Under Date Configuration set Period to Last 30 Calendar Days (or Last 365 Calendar Days for a longer first import) and Format to XML or CSV. Both work.
- 5 Under General Configuration set Date Format to yyyyMMdd, Time Format to HHmmss, and Date/Time Separator to ; (semi-colon). Click Continue, then Create.
- 6 Click the Info icon next to the saved query and copy the Query ID shown at the top.
- 7 Open Performance & Reports → Flex Queries → Flex Web Service Configuration. Tick Flex Web Service Status and click Save. Choose how long the token lasts in Should Expire After (up to 1 year), leave Valid For IP Address blank, and click Generate New Token. Copy the token.
- 8 In EdgeDojo, open Journal → Import Trades → Connected accounts, choose Interactive Brokers, paste the credentials and click Connect & sync.
- Each sync covers the query's Period. If you go longer than that between syncs, upload a CSV for the gap.
- IBKR allows only a few Flex requests per minute. If a sync says you're rate limited, wait a minute and try again.
- Generating a new token in IBKR invalidates the old one. Reconnect with the new token.
