API sync

Coinbase Trading Journal with API Sync

Sync your Coinbase trades into EdgeDojo in one click. Track P&L, fees, and win rate, and find the setups that make you money.

Free during open beta. No card required.

Coinbase is many traders' first exchange, and its transaction history is not built for reviewing trades. EdgeDojo connects with a read-only Coinbase API key and turns your fills into trades with entry, exit, fees, and P&L, across Coinbase Advanced, Coinbase Exchange, and Coinbase International.

Sync after each session and your review starts from finished trades, not a ledger.

Tips for journaling Coinbase trades

  • Coinbase API keys are scoped to one portfolio. If you split trading across portfolios, connect each one so your journal sees every trade.
  • Track fees as their own line. Spread and taker fees can decide whether a short-term crypto strategy works at all.
  • Tag swing positions separately from day trades. They behave differently and deserve separate stats.

How to sync your Coinbase trades

  1. 1 Log in to Coinbase and open the Coinbase Developer Platform (portal.cdp.coinbase.com) → API Keys → Secret API Keys.
  2. 2 Click Create API key, give it a nickname, and expand API restrictions / Advanced Settings.
  3. 3 Give the key read-only / view permission only. Do not enable trading, transfers, or withdrawals. EdgeDojo only reads your trade history.
  4. 4 Pick the portfolio to connect and tick only the View permission. Each portfolio needs its own key.
  5. 5 Change the signature algorithm from Ed25519 (the default) to ECDSA, then click Create API key.
  6. 6 Copy the API key name (organizations/…/apiKeys/…) into API key and the full private key block (-----BEGIN EC PRIVATE KEY----- … -----END EC PRIVATE KEY-----) into API secret.
  7. 7 In EdgeDojo, open Journal → Import Trades → Connected accounts, choose Coinbase, paste the credentials and click Connect & sync.
  • Funding payments are not imported from Coinbase yet, so perp P&L excludes funding.

Coinbase journal FAQ

Is the Coinbase API key read-only?
Yes. Create the key with only the View permission ticked. EdgeDojo cannot trade, transfer, or withdraw with it.
Why does the key need to be ECDSA?
Coinbase creates Ed25519 keys by default, but the EdgeDojo connection uses ECDSA. Switch the signature algorithm to ECDSA when you create the key.
I trade in more than one Coinbase portfolio. What do I do?
Each Coinbase API key covers one portfolio, so create a key for each portfolio and connect them separately.
